I love Susan Boyle. If you have not heard her new CD, please listen to it before you dismiss her. Remember, the stuff you heard on the utube tapes were good, but the sound quality is often poor. On her CD she is awesome. Her notes are sure and her voice is pure. There is just something in the quality of her voice that touches people.

She is wonderfully talented too, beyond her story, absolutely, but I just feel that Gaga and Lambert fit the bill of this poll more... and I would say Gaga's "phenom" status was cemented in 2008, so it's reasonable to vote Lambert here! Fortunately for Susan, with her hugh fan base, she is able to show Sony music/Columbia lots of money. Subtract 400K from 7 million and what you have left will show you who the winner is. Nothing against Susan, just think that she is overrated for reasons that have nothing to do with singing. People expected her to make a fool of herself at that audition, and when she didn't, the world was shocked. I'll say it again: great reality tv does NOT equal great singing.

I ALSO heard there are Adam tour plans for UK & Japan this year-very exciting! As for better people coming off AI, I don't have high hopes for that. The show has been losing it's audience,judge is changing, and contestants have been pretty run of the mill. In short, it was only mildly interesting these last few years until Adam came along.

Rolling Stone and other magazines voted this the Year of the Geezer. All of the top albums were ones that appealed to older audiences and/or covered old classics. GaGa and Adam are trying something new and it took GaGa a year to be recognized (her album has been out there since 2008). Those of you who say you don't like Adam's voice are confusing it with his style. I have no doubt if he sang any of Susan's stuff you would like his voice just fine. Both have lovely voices and loyal fans.

@mada Lambert, his record label and concerned fans sure care about his album sales. The place Lambert needed to be phenomenal but hasn’t been is on the sales chart. Bet you won't have a headache if FYE is selling even 1/4 of what SUBO is selling, or if he debuted at least higher than Bo. What the numbers may mean is that not many people beyond his fan base think he is that special. So for now Lambert is just an over-hyped musical also-run not the musical phenomenon his fans wanted him to be.

As far as I can see, the poll is titled 'Who is your FAVORITE Musical Phenomenon of 2009', not 'Who is THE Musical Phenomenon of 2009'. My vote goes to Adam simply because he is my favourite based on his outstanding, rare and exceptional talent and bucketloads of charisma. Others are as entitled to have their own for whatever reason that may be.

AMMO1 Many have been trying to vote for Susan but the percentages are stuck? My eye! The percentage has gone up by two since the last time I was on here. Diversity? They won fair and square. There were at least five acts in the BGT final better than the big lady with the average voice and the sob story. Then you say you feel sorry for Lady Gaga. Basically you are trying to suggest that the poll is rigged in Adam's favour. Go away and try to be cleverer next time.

When I pre-ordered mine, there were 225,000 already ordered. His CD, by the way is amazing, original, and exciting. I love every song! I also like Lady Gaga and bought her Monster CD. It is good, but Adam's is great! Lady Gaga sounds similar in her songs, but Adams is so creative, it is almost like different styles and artists.

From his stunning performances every week during Idol, to the 20 minute set that absolutely blew me away during the summer Idol tour, to his debut CD which weeks after its drop is still in heavy rotation in my life, his music has dominated the year for me.
